Book reviews 11/9
I finally finished two books this week after slow, but steady, reading.
I Don’t Have Enough Faith to Be an Athiest (Norman Geisler and Frank Turek)
Rating:

This book takes one through a logical process to demonstrate that it takes more faith to be an Atheist than it does to be Christian. It’s an interesting concept, and I think they do a pretty good job. An atheist reading through the book may feel there is a bit of arrogance from the authors near the beginning, usually where they replay conversations with non-believers. If you are atheist and reading the book, I would suggest you gloss over those and pay more attention to the rest of the text. Also, this is not a book to end the debate, but it is a great start. I see it as a start on a journey… there are so many more books out there to answer any questions left after this one (and I can recommend some if you’re curious and have specific questions).
Epicenter: Why current rumblings in the middle east will change your future (Joel Rosenberg)
Rating:

Joel has taken prophecies in the Old Testament book of Ezekiel (ch. 38-39) and applied them to the way he sees current events in the middle east, through the third lens of scripture, as he states several times. He has now written five fiction books detailing end times based on these prophecies, which have an eerie way of predicting events over the past few years. I have read the first four of the series, and will likely read the fifth next year. This book is a non-fiction book written to describe why he wrote the fiction books as they are, including the events he saw occuring in the middle east at the time vs. how he reads scripture, as well as some predictions on what he sees occuring in the near future. It’s a good read for anyone interested in end times prophecy. As a collection, I like his books slightly more than the Left Behind series (I have read the first 13 of 16 books). By the way, Joel has an active blog where he makes notes of how he sees latest world events through the lens of scripture.
