There was a point about half-way through this movie that I was really enjoying it, but also wondering how there could be another half of a movie left. Well, I was hit with quite a surprise, which also was quite hilarious at the time. The rest of the movie just tailspun from there, however, and I never recovered the enjoyment I had during the first half. Still worth watching for the many good scenes in the movie.

There are certainly some slow spots in this movie, but it was much better than it should have been. Funny to see an older movie with O.J. Simpson playing a bit part. The helicopter and airplane chase scene at the end was absolutely outstanding, especially given the time this movie was made (pre-CGI).
Desperately Seeking Susan (1985)

Guess I took too many years to get around to watching this one. Always funny to watch 80s movies to see the clothes, hairdos, etc. that were the craze while growing up. This one was especially “80s” given Madonna was playing a key role in the movie, with Rosanna Arquette’s character trying to dress and act like her.
The Stranger (1946)

I’m still not a huge fan of Orson Welles, but his movies are generally entertaining enough to keep me watching. I’m usually, however, a fan of anything Edward G. Robinson shows up in. I like him better as a bad guy, rather than the good-guy-detective he plays in this movie. If you don’t like pre-50s movies, go ahead and skip it. If, like me, you’ve seen too many pre-50s films to count, then check it out.
Eagle Eye (2008)

I’m sorry, but this plot was rediculously unbelievable. I can usually suspend my disbelief when watching a film, but I didn’t make it more than about 10 minutes with this one. Yeh, there was some pretty decent action going on all movie long, but that wasn’t enough to keep me from over-thinking the silliness of the plot.
War, Inc. (2008)

This is a fine example of a movie for which I should have carefully read the description before watching. Normally, I enjoy a film better when I don’t know much about it ahead of time. In this case, knowing ahead of time that this was going to be a parody would perhaps have helped me enjoy it more. I still don’t think it would have attained a 3-star rank, though. It’s too bad, because I expected another Grosse Pointe Blank, which is definitely was not. Oh well.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002)

Still not quite as good as the later movies, this is still a highly entertaining film version of the second book. I just finished reading the book to the kids earlier today, so their treat was to watch the first half of the movie before bedtime. We’ll see in the morning if leaving them hanging in the middle of the movie was a bad idea before dream time, doh.
