Movies 2/8-2/15
Rating:

There were some really fun action sequences in this movie, but ultimately it just wasn’t good enough to pull more than 3 stars out of me. I was staying away from the Hulk movies for a while after hearing the previous one was pretty bad, but glad I finally gave in and watched this one.
Hulk (2003)
Rating:

Since the 2008 version was decent enough, I went ahead and added this to my Netflix queue to watch later in the week. As expected, it really wasn’t very good, but I did like how many sequences in the movie looked like comic book pages. Felt like an episode of 24 at times (you know… the split-screen shots).
Boston Legal: Season 4 (2007)
Rating:

It’s sad to say that this is the last season of Boston Legal for me. It has been deteriorating ever since about half-way through season 3, and hasn’t really turned around. I still love to watch the show for Shatner’s antics and Spader’s wit, but that simply isn’t good enough to keep the show going for me.
Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008)
Rating:

The first Hellboy movie felt like a complete joke, and this one certainly maintained that feel (and I guess that’s what they’re ultimately shooting for). However, the bad guy (played by Luke Goss) was awesome. Every scene he showed up in was outstanding… he brought just enough class to the movie to stretch it to 3 stars.
Get Smart (2008)
Rating:

I tend to enjoy all films with Steve Carell in them (even those where he’s just the voice of an animal… not sure why that is, lol). This was no exception. It was pretty weird seeing Anne Hathaway play this role after watching her in the Princess Diaries movies. This is some fairly clean fun.
An American Carol (2008)
Rating:

I will admit right now that this is a weak 3 stars. This movie is pretty dumb, like the rest of David Zucker’s parodies. However, it climbs above the rest by actually being a movie that makes fun of all this anti-American hatred out there from… Americans. That’s good enough for me.
Mythbusters: Collection 1 (2007)
Rating:

These guys are always fun to watch, but after four DVDs, I now realize the show doesn’t have that much staying power with me. Each show proceeds according to the same formula, which works pretty well (I don’t know how else they could do it), but after you watch too many of these episodes in a row, it can become boring. If you have seen too many of their shows as well, but you haven’t seen the “MythBusters: Revealed” episode, catch it on the fourth DVD. It was an outstanding behind the scenes look at the show.
