Ok… that’s it… PC has gone too far

I have finally hit my breaking point.  Political correctness has made the final blow.  One of my favorite websites on the planet, www.jumptheshark.com, is dead.  Well, not exactly dead… it has also now “Jumped the Shark.”  If you don’t know what that means, check out this decent wikipedia article

I haven’t been there for several months, but tried to get there tonight to find out if it was worth adding Prison Break: Season 3 to my Netflix queue.  The show was well on its way to jumping the shark during Season 2, and thought I better find out what people thought about Season 3.  If they definitively determined it had jumped the shark, then I could save myself hours of time.  Of course, I could save myself hours of time by cancelling my Netflix subscription, but let’s not get crazy here ;).

Well, when I went to the website, I was immediately redirected to TV Guide!  $%#@!  A bit of web searching later, and I found the following forum post.  Here’s the deal:

Jump The Shark used to be a great source for critiquing and learning about television history.  But it all went downhill once Jon Hein, the founder of jumptheshark.com, sold out to TV Guide.   For some time, things for the most part, remained the same.  But a week or so ago, I checked in and noticed that the site became a completely barebones shell of its former self.  To put things in proper perspective, it was as if it went from a common fan blog to just another run-of the-mill gossip site.  Any sense of idenitity or punch has been completely striped in favor of a basic corporate agenda (to be as “politically correct” as remotely possible).

I can’t believe all that great information is gone.  The TV Guide version of the site is absolutely junk.  I can’t believe they even pretend to maintain the site.  It’s all propaganda now, like far too many news sources out there.  How in the world am I going to know, definitively, that it’s time to stop watching a show?!  Maybe it’s a sign I need to stop watching old TV shows altogether.  Hmmm…
