Movies 12/29-1/14
This won’t look like much now, due to dropping my Netflix plan to 2 discs at a time, with both discs going to the kiddos. Surprisingly, I’m not going through withdrawal… yet.

Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (2009)
Rating:

I have to admit this was a huge surprise. I expected more semi-funny antics from squirrels and the idiot sloth, but this went above and beyond the call of duty yanking laughs out of my kids. I couldn’t stop laughing in several spots myself. Maybe the closet Ice Age fan in me finally came out.

Barbie and the Three Musketeers (2009)
Rating:

This was the most entertaining of the Barbie direct-to-DVD movies that I “had the great priviledge” of sitting through. Barbie meets sword fighting… how could you go wrong there? I almost enjoyed it enough to send it into three stars territory, but come on… it’s Barbie. J loved it, of course.

The Office: Season 5 (2008)
Rating:

I think I’m finally getting tired of this show. Same old stuff, but some new extreme. The absolute highlight of the series was the beginning of episode 14 “Stress Relief: Part 1″ where Dwight stages a fire drill that results in Stanley having a heart attack. The way that scene played out was brilliant, and is a definite must-see.

Lost: Season 5 (2009)
Rating:

Continues to be one of the most intriguing shows ever devised, though I fear the final season may change that. I know they say they’ll tie up everything for those of us who stuck with it for the past several years, but I’ve been disappointed by too many prior shows. Here’s to the final season…

Battlestar Galactica: Season 4.5 (2009)
Rating:

The final half season continued to provide the intense sci-fi goodness I immediately appreciated since the first few episodes when the show started. I have to admit, however, that I was disappointed in the ending of the series, though suppose I should have expected something like it since about half-way through the series. Not sure I’ll rewatch it all again even though I now own all the DVDs, but we’ll see. Let me know if you want to borrow any.
