What if a thousand sleepless nights…
I’m in the middle of another evening (morning?) where I’m in too much pain to stay up and I’m in too much pain to go to bed. I’m sitting here listening to a contemporary Christian "station" on Pandora, and one of my recent favorites just came up: Laura Story’s "Blessings." It always seems to show up with perfect timing. Here’s the chorus.
Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You’re near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise?
You can check out the entire song here at Youtube, and you can check out the story behind Laura’s song here and here.
I’m always humbled by those in far worse shape than me. Praise God for His blessings *and* His mercies.
22 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; 23 they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. 24 “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.”
Lamentations 3:22–24 (ESV)

One of my favorites as well. Obviously, I don’t have the struggles you have, but I find that song puts the struggles in my life into perspective. Sometimes it’s really hard in our struggles to remember there is a greater purpose to all of this. Thanks for sharing.
